The 1st amendment should not be abused as a shelter for executives like Lou Dobbs to spew their hate and venom:

I agree and actually this is a time wasting thread. it is good that he got this citizenship and I guess he is happy but what about others who are struggling to get a gc ?
and this statement really irritated me "I know, the wait time is long, but it is worth it every bit."
maybe they should make new citizens apply for passport every year and tell them to renew DL everyyear and after few years I will ask him if the wait was worth it ??

Hi Folks,
I know that with a deluge of applications, the question I am asking might not be relevent in the current scenario (July filers), but what is the historical EAD processing time? I know they say that USCIS will issue one within 90 days, but does it always take 90 days or is lot lesser?
I remember when I got EAD during OPT, it took like 30-40 days on average. Does the same hold for the EAD for EB too?

Should contain:
Information that are helpful for others. (Similar to what IV forum does today)
Should not contain:
Any information about our activities or agendas.
2. A private registered member only site.
Members of different state chapters should be members of this site. Users cannot register themselves on this site. Only state chapter leaders can enroll members.
Should contain:
Information about our activities, agendas, fund drive etc. Members can freely voice their opinions without unwanted visitors ( anti-immigrants ) viewing them.
This would drive up the state chapter enrollment, meanwhile IV will still be a popular site for people seeking help.

I think it is a good think to respond to the people who offended you, but it is naive to think something will be done just by CNN getting a letter with thousands of signatures.
If you feel you are offended or prejudiced, why not pursue a lawsuit for defamation/moral damages? I think this is perfectly fit for a judge to decide. Only this way the small can affect the big.
Or, why not try to appear on the show and talk against the lies Tancredo said? I bet Lou Dobbs would love that, as it would increase audience.
A petition like this, directly to CNN, is, in my point of view, a waste of time and effort. It's not going to be read and will be thrown into the trash can as soon as it is opened there.

11/16/2006: Update of Lame Duck Congress Agenda
# Report indicates that the House leaders more or lesss have determined that they will stay in session through the middle of December 2006 and hope to pass all the pending appropriation bills. Report also indicates that the appropriation bills have not moved an inch within this week because both the House and the Senate have been struggling to elect the new leaders in the both chambers. Accordingly, as we reported yesterday, we will not see any active and interesting legislative activities in the Hill until next week. It is thus obvious that the Congress may pass the Continuing Resolution at least until the middle of December 2006. If in the middle of December the Congress fails to pass all the spending bills and close the 109lth Congress after middle of December, it is likely that the Congress may pass another Continuing Resolution to fund the federal government through January 2007 and the remaining spending bills will have to be taken care of by the new 110th Congress in January 2007.
# Thus far, there is no indication of introducing Ominibus Spending bill. The report indicates that CIR may stay in limbo for the rest of the year owing to the complicated strategic interest involved in both parties as related to the 2008 national election and chances are that the discussion and debate on the CIR may not take place until the new majority party starts controlling the legislative agenda. However, we may have to wait and see whether any piecemeal legislative bills on H-1B and employment-based immigration may have any chance to make through the Lame Duck Congress as related to the spending bill legislation. Business community is actively working on this strategy and it may be the immigrants' interest not to be too vocal other than working very closely with their employers to push the Congress to help the business comnmunity. People should remember that when it comes to the legislation, the Congress may act on the constituents' voice, particularly powerful constituents' voice, but not necessarily on the immigrants' rights or privilege issues. Your lawyer is probably correct. This has to do with IO who are not aware of AC21 laws. But make sure your employer did not have any issues with DOL, USCIS in responding to RFEs related to other employees like H1 RFE, ability to pay , etc which may be used against your application.

I also got email from CRIS last night stating that my I-129 has been reopened.
I have a very simple immigration history:
I-129 filed and approved April 2005, petition expires 3/30/2008; only ever worked for this same company.
No H-1B extensions ever filed, no H-1B transfers ever done, no previous history of US immigration prior to April 2005.
Labor, I-140 and I-485 were filed November 2006; I-140 approved February 2007, I-485 approved June 2007, EB2 green card arrived June 2007.
There was a LUD on the I-140, in August, but that was about the same time as a bunch of other people got LUDs on cases starting SRC07... seems like I can disregard that.
There was also a LUD on the I-129 without a status change later in August. No explanation for that was apparent.
And now I get a notice on 10/23/2007 saying that the I-129 has been re-opened and that something will happen within the next 30 days. I'll be sure to keep you all updated if I get anything like an actual I-797 notice through the mail.
Did anyone else get anything on October 23rd?
