A lot of people, including me have lost faith in IV. They are not going to pay. We don't know what IV is working on and we don't believe it can do anything. The sooner IV accepts it, the better. I have seen this personally in talking to people and you can see the evidence with less than 300 people contributing. IV needs to produce results first.
Before you ladies jump on me with your (p)curses for personal attacks, read on.
IV needs to figure out other ways to generate cash if it thinks that would help. One way would be advertising on the site. I think IV has built this website well and it is an asset it needs to use NOW. I believe IV can charge up to $10,000 a day for advertising on the website. That would be $300,000/month or $3.6 million a year. Even $3000/day would result in over $1 million. That should not be very difficult to do.

I think this is a valid point. We should request from USCIS to treat the employment base category same as other category. I am not sure that USCIS could fix this by themselves or they need any legislation.
This will be a big relief for us and will fix our 50% backlog.

Now the reports saying both parties have an eye on 2008 presidential
election so they wont do any controversial bill. Same thing was said before the midterm election. So once they after the presidential election would they again say they have to face the midterm in 2010 so no controversial bills?

I just checked the USCIS website and found out that the approved H1 which has been reopened has a Last Updated date of 09/30/2007....
09/30/2007 was a Sunday...why is USCIS working on the case on Sunday ???

I have been a IV member since 2006 . I have seen the ups/downs . donated money , sent letters , attended rallies and done whatever has been been proposed . But I see that many senior members who had the drive to motivate people are not sending or being part of any messages or threads at all and that is exactly why the movement seems to be losing steam .
The standard response that I see to any question is "have you donated money ? " . "Don't ask for anything till you have donated. " this is followed by some some red dots which normally works to silence the questions. People will be willing to donate when they believe in the movement . I remember we collected $ 30,000 in 1 month before the rally there was huge thread with all the donations . People were charged up and the money came up automatically . I am willing to donate but to be brutally honest I do not see the same level of motivation as was there in 2006 / 2007 days .Please use this as a wakeup call and not as reason to vent your frustration on me .
There are many senior members who I do not even see any more . Members joining in late 2007 or early 2008 will not know any of these guys .
Aman Kapoor . He is the founder of IV . I have not seen his messages since the past 3 years almost . Where is he ? Is it too much for him to send a greeting in New years eve motivating the members ? It takes just 2 minutes .
Mark Bartosik :- He was supposed to the spokesperson for IV .The guy with the MasterCard sign for immigration . I have not seen him for quite some time now

The only leadership/core that I see is Pappu and no one else . If you have a country where the prime minister shows his face only once in 4 years , how are the people supposed to believe in that movement ? Please don't reply with a message saying what have I done or why can't I contribute money ? I have done that I am looking for leadership to show us the way and motivate us . All campaigns don't need money donations( Letters , calls , faxes etc ) . We could start with that and then drum up support and momentum and then the money will start flowing in automatically . There has to be a synchronized campaign organized by the leadership and all I see is everybody putting their eggs in the basket called spillover.

Aman Kapoor or Waldenpond- IV founder is very much active and working hard on this mission despite having his greencard. We have regular daily discussions as a team and he is one person I have seen who sleeps, drinks and live this effort all the time. He has spent his personal money to travel to DC and still takes time off from work to travel to DC on regular basis. Likewise there are others who are committed to this effort and are working hard on the tasks assigned to them. You see me most of the time writing on the forum because in the core team, this is the task assigned to me. I communicate with members. If we have everyone posting on the forum, it will not be a good use of our limited time off work on daily basis. Also know that IV is not forums. Just by writing on the forums, nothing ever gets done on the hill. There are several tasks that we have to do in this advocacy effort to get something done. You can see more regular updates on the donor forum on what we do behind the scenes. It takes lot of effort, commitment and patience to be active in this effort because results are not immediate or guaranteed. But with our efforts we have have had our successes and we are positive about the future successes. The key is to be consistent, persistent and passionate about this advocacy work. We need to understand that we as an organization represent hundreds of thousands of people suffering due to the broken immigration system despite following all the rules and being legal in this country. This long wait has caused lot of pain and suffereing in people's lives and careers. Everyday we feel the pressure of hopes of thousands of our members who look upto us with some ray of light. I had H1B valid up to 2010 (3 years extension because of I-140 being approved). Then I traveled abroad and entered US last December using AP. My new I-94 said "paroled in" and had an expiry date of Dec 2008 (till the date the AP was valid). Last week my company applied for transferring my H1B to one of it's subsidiaries as my position was transferred to the new subsidiary. They applied using premium processing and got an approval this week. My new H1 is valid for the next three years now (till 2011) :)
Also, although I entered US using AP I continued working using my old H1B. I did not use EAD. I talked to my attorney and according to them entering on AP does NOT automatically switch you to EAD. You can still keep on working on your original H1B. Since my H1B transfer was approved later I believe they are correct in this regard.

We can also align ourselves with H1B lobby/Healthcare lobby and request to file I-485 without visa numbers. That will at least stop some of the indentured servitude and our spouses can work.
Why don't we think thorough about this great idea?
I have an amendment to it. Basically all I currently care about is work permit for my spouse, even temporary authorization would please us enormously, say for the period of retrogression delay.
If I recall correctly, spouses of people on L visas can work, why do we have to suffer?

Just wondering how we can make this a paid site which works and where everyone wins. Here are some thoughts in the wee hours:
0) Read for Free
1) Monthly paid subscription (recurring contributors):
a) can post without restriction.
b) get important updates
2) If you don't have a monthly contribution -
a) Your first 5 posts are free
b) After that you can buy "points" to post on IV (say minimum chunk of 25 points for $50 bucks).
To post a message, it costs you a point. If you have a question, then a couple of bucks is a small amount to have your questions answered. However, without incentive people will not answer questions (because it would also cost to post responses/experiences). So, lets say I post a response to your question, then if you (or any member who posted before me) thinks that my response was useful, and adds value to that thread, can give me a "+" which adds to my chunk of points.
This way, only people who have serious queries will post their questions, and those who are confident about their answers will post a response. It will reduce noise on the website and will become a better resource of information. Unfortunately a lot of good stuff gets lost between people venting their frustration and providing incorrect advice.
Ofcourse, we can make certain threads free to post - such as the funding drive, media drive, state chapters etc.
If you really really want lots of responses to your questions, you could also sponsor a thread - say $25 bucks where anybody can post a response for free, for a limited time.
Also certain threads can be made free to post on popular demand.

This is tricky question . I am not sure what the right asnwer is, which i am also looking for.
Your 2011 I-94 is invalid once you came back with new parolee I-94. This much I am sure of.
I think you can work on h1 till ur current I-94 is valid (Here satus is parolee or H1b I am not sure) . After that you need to file an amendment to get another I-94 valid till 2011 again.
Or May be we need to file h1b amendement as soon as we come back to US on AP to get new I-94 till 2011.
Some body wrote that even with AP, at the POE if you show new h1B which is valid till 2011 they would issue I-94 till 2011, even though you dont have the valid h1b stamping on passport. Somebody else wrote that showing H1b papers would cause confusion to the POE officer with un-necessary side effcts
