Our interview lasted about 45 mins, and the District Adjudication Officer (DAO)DAO asked a use so many questions like our first date of entry, last date entry, dob of our kids, employer letter, latest pay stubs, 3 most recent W2 - all for me and my spouse, ; all related to our valid status in US, Also, our expired EAD and AP(Originals) , current EAD, I-140 doc, current H1, FP notices - I guess she asked for almost all possible docs, and asked us to hand over the photo copies.
She had all our documents(starting from earliest H1 to current H1, Birth certificates, Medicals exams, ect in front of her, and looked like she double checked the docs.

I mean, its one thing to see it happen in the movies but this group has taken on Goliath and has won a major battle. There is still a long road ahead but the combined efforts of lobbying, rallies and the flower campaign (also the threat of a lawsuit, cant forget that one) has brought fruits to our efforts. pappu, Logiclife and all others of the core group, hats off.

I would suggest two things:
1) Fire her and let her know the reason. If possible show her the video, that will definitely scare and embarrass her. You cannot undo what she did to your child but that will teach her a lesson and hopefully prevent her from doing that to another child.
2) I would highly recommend sending your child to a reputed daycare. Ofcourse your child will not get personal attention like home, but that ensures the safety of the child. There are other benefits of a daycare like - social interactions, personality development, fixed routines, curriculums, and above all they are trained professionals.
Give it a thought.

We had hired an Indian nanny in NJ who, we learnt after hiring her, is here on a tourist visa. We were paying her $350 per week cash, which is the standard rate around here for nannies (incl. citizens and people on GC). We had liked her when we met her in response to an ad on Sulekha, and we thought an Indian nanny would be good for our first child. She has been with us for about 3 months, and we were intermittently not getting a good feeling with her for some reason. We finally bought a small security camera and installed it yesterday. On the very first day with the camera, we came home and saw the recorded video to find that she is violently hitting the baby on two separate occasions. Needless to say, it has shocked, angered and extremely saddened us. I showed the video to a couple of friends and even they say it is unbearable to watch. This was just the first day of recording and it pains us tremendously to think what all may have happened previously.
She is of course not going to stay with the baby alone anymore, but I want to know what legal options I have to penalize her to the fullest extent, so that she does not do this to anybody else�s small babies. She it seems had come here last year and taken care of someone else�s baby in Hoboken, and I can imagine that their baby also went through this. (This woman and her husband are a ~ 35 year old couple, who have a multiple entry ten year tourist visa; both come here for 6 months every year and work odd jobs like this. An open window can again incite another RFE and then back to counting. There should not be much hope or basis on preadjudication....preadjudication is just a mode for denying cases and not giving green....one RFE responded they may shower you with more just for the fun of it.
Again hope less and don't put your life on hold

It`s great news for all the people who can file & who have already filed on july2nd.
Thanks IV for being so persistant. You guys have my support.
Not to undermine the current development , it is good news for tons of people including me, but the true victory will be when retrogression ends & all the backlog centers are cleared. All skilled workers (& sometimes their stay at home spouses)don`t have to wait for yearsssssss to get a GC.
& no before I get brickbats thrown at me I am not being pessimistic or a spoilt sport, I just feel that this gc mess should stop & skilled ppl shouldn`t be harressed by having to put their lives on hold for such long periods.

I remember you came forward to donate 50$. I thought of a couple of ways to do it. Can you do that through signing up for a 50$ recurring contribution and stop that the follwoing month or you can find a partner to donate the other 50$. We need funds as well to reach our goals
I never claimed any amount for this holiday gift on this thread yet but what if I want to donate $31 or per say $ 81 one time, I do not have that option now and so I will end up not donating now and wait and donate when I feel comfortable with $ 100/- or its multiplications. That is called turning away and if you guys do not see any danger into it I do not have any further words.
Fund raising is an art and I believe our current startegy is lacking that art. If you guys see the base of any major successful fund raising (Grass root level not Political ones, mind well we claim ourselves grass root level organization)you will always find donors with $ 1 to donors with $1 million donatiing as per their will. Grass root level fund raisings can not afford constraints which normally goes successful in political and/or industrial fund raisings.
Some of the strong supporters of current policy, in their argument, automatically assume that willing donor always used to spend $ 100/- frequently for drinks or food and may be living lavish life style. But they are partly wrong in their assumption...I myself never eat outside frequently. Even on a travel trip I cook my food by myself and I normally do not drink sodas or alcohol so what abhijitp has given a example at least does not remain valid for me but I can not say that it is completely out of proportion, as it has some valid logic but it can not be true for everyone.
Point is if we make a wrong based fund raising policy, we may hurt ourselves only. I know my option, if I want to donate odd figure now, I will not be able to donate it now, and I will have to wait till I feel comfortable donating $ 100/- and/or single digit multiplications of $ 100/- but would that be considered a good and wise option?
For an example, I am emotionally charged today and I want to donate $ 61/-(As I may plan that much only..for whatever reasons) but I am not able to donate so I will not donate and say after 4 months I will be able to plan $ 100/- but what if at that time I may not be emotionally charged to donate all together? So end effect would be I will end up donating nothing ( This is just an example..:))
And for the sake of argument if you enrolled yourself $50/- recurring, you did it willingly and so would you change to $ 25/- recurring if $ 25/-option is available to you? (Note: I think most people on this board fear that with having a minimum amount option, most people will turn to that only but that may not be 100% true. and even if it may become true it will end up having more donation flow) For most people answer is no, I believe, They will stick to $ 50/- recurring option as they can afford and they did it willingly. In the bad economy if everyone can get EAD it will help more. All we need is an admin fix to allow filing of I485 and get EAD benefits

If HR 5882 bill is passed, it is good that we have more visa numbers. But the issue of random processing without considering priority dates is frustrating to people with older PDs. Lot of people here are eligible to get GCs with the current cutoff dates, but still are being left out. I think, this is another very important issue to be fight for by the IV core team and members.

You can do that and IV (core or its members) will not bite at you, because we know we are all part of the same movement, with the same frustrations, pain and stress associated with uncertainty. What is really needed is channelling the frustration toward action, mobilization and support at the grass roots.
The opposition is strong. But if we are to succeed, we need to work together. IV work is not easy. Takes time, commitment and money. Lots of people have been trying to do it for a long long time now. But circumstances and uncertainty/unpredictability associated with the legislature and governmental agency(ies) have always been the deterrent for IV's success.
Reversal of July 07 VB, multi-year EAD, Extended OPT etc. - IV has played significant roles. Under tough circumstances, IV has been able to obtain temporary measures that provide interim relief to you and posterity.
The day will come when retrogression will become history. But nobody knows what the calendar date of that day is. I surely hope that the day falls in 2008.
As a start, have you looked at the High-Five campaign started by a IV member? Please donate $5 for that campaign. That is the least you can do.

So why dont you see that this is not about helping a fellow human being in need. Everyone should do that. The sheriffs dept took her to the hospital to ensure that in case there is any complication, things could be take care of. Why? Because its the law and the majority in this country respect the law. No one, even illegals, can be denied emergent care. This would not happen if she were in Mexico or India. No free medical care there, and no one gives a shit about the rights of prisoners there.

There is a law for illegals and they should get the punishment (deported), but that doesn't mean we should go out of way to device our own punishments to 'teach a lesson' to 'these illegals'. There are some basic Human rights. Even POW's are supposed to be treated with those human rights.

Few big question we need answer tow
1) Why is there no forward movement of dates if there is visa was available from this year/quarter's quota... what is up with retrogression?
2) If visas were unavailable, why was the fucking date advanced to Sept 2006?
4) Why was FIFO not followed during adjudication?
3) How the Fuck long do they need to determine the backlog ..? we need USCIS to publish the backlog stats. Without that visa bulletins are pointless?

All the 485 cases filed are i their system, it s simple fucking sql query .. or a join at the best ... a blind monkey with hair on its breast could find an aswer to that question in a few mins.
