Heres the quote from the article
"Baby Jaqueline was delivered at 9:25 p.m. and weighed 6.28 pounds." So, yes ,she did deliver without complications.
And the Mayans couldnt even see their own end coming, let alone forecast that of the world :D.

Let me apologize at the outset that the reason I did not get some emails was because of a typo in my email id in the first post. That has been corrected now and just to reiterate, my email is shrey@immigrationvoice.org
As far as the stories go, reading them encourages IV to work even more intensely towards a solution.
I will pe posting a sanitized version of the stories as and when I find time (no personal information will be revealed and I will take utmost care to ensure that the story cannot be traced back to any individual)
If someone does NOT want me to post such a brief version, please PM me and I will happily respect your wishes.
Others who have NOT sent me their stories, please do so.
Personally, though I had an inkling, I had no idea the situation for even brilliant individuals was so shockingly bad. As a core member of IV if I feel this way, I am sure that the lawmakers have absolutely no idea about how highly qualified yet unfairly treated all of us are.
We at IV have achieved quite a lot of success at DC by meeting many many senators and now atleast they are aware that highly-skilled immigrants are facing issues. Most also know about some org called Immigration Voice which has been making quite some noise since the last couple of months.
We are pretty confident that when our stories passed on to Senators it will definitely benefit us and convey the stark reality. Maybe a jolt like this is what is needed to get them out of stupor
Lets work together to make sure that our sufferings end.
Tell your friends about IV, contribute, send in your stories and volunteer for a better future....

Kick her out and give no reason. Find a day care its lot better.
Hello guys,
Sorry for this non-immigration related post. We have this sudden, tragic situation that I wanted all of your advice on. Thank you for your time in reading this long post.
We had hired an Indian nanny in NJ who, we learnt after hiring her, is here on a tourist visa. We were paying her $350 per week cash, which is the standard rate around here for nannies (incl. citizens and people on GC). We had liked her when we met her in response to an ad on Sulekha, and we thought an Indian nanny would be good for our first child. She has been with us for about 3 months, and we were intermittently not getting a good feeling with her for some reason. We finally bought a small security camera and installed it yesterday. On the very first day with the camera, we came home and saw the recorded video to find that she is violently hitting the baby on two separate occasions. Needless to say, it has shocked, angered and extremely saddened us. I showed the video to a couple of friends and even they say it is unbearable to watch. This was just the first day of recording and it pains us tremendously to think what all may have happened previously.
She is of course not going to stay with the baby alone anymore, but I want to know what legal options I have to penalize her to the fullest extent, so that she does not do this to anybody elses small babies. She it seems had come here last year and taken care of someone elses baby in Hoboken, and I can imagine that their baby also went through this. (This woman and her husband are a ~ 35 year old couple, who have a multiple entry ten year tourist visa; both come here for 6 months every year and work odd jobs like this. They apparently got a (unsponsored) tourist visa after showing a lot of landed property in India).
I specifically want to know if I will have potential problems if I go to law enforcement about this- regarding have employed her (both of us are on H1B visas). I know we have made mistakes and should have done better due diligence in this, and there cannot be any more punishment for us than seeing our 8 month old who cannot tell us about it when we come home- being beaten on the tapes. We saw this yesterday and have not told her yet. We want to weigh all options before we proceed, but from today onwards one of us is home all the time till Friday. Any advice or opinion is sincerely appreciated. Thanks for reading this long post. And, to all who are thinking of nannies or have one, please learn from our mistakes and closely monitor your childs safety every day.

What is pathetic is your blindness to discern right from wrong.
I certainly expected a better articulated reply than a brilliant one-liner.
Anyways, not sure why you are so hung up on the person being illegal so she deserves what she got line. You may have to step back and look at what the larger trend here is. You and I can be the next target (see slippery slope article below).

After hearing this, do you think our folks will sit quiet. We will do whatever it takes to makes sure that American jobs stays American.
By god grace , we will make sure that Strive act does not pass. Especially, the portion that talks about employment based category.
Now you are making me feel guilty (traveled in business class with plenty of food, water and wine). No wonder, I don't have any leadership qualities, (Never knew it came from keeping rats company and going without food and water).

ALLOW EVERYONE TO FILE I485 SHOULD BE OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY.
You people already have filed 485 and have EAD. EAD gives you so much freedom . It is as good as a green card.
What about people who are less fortunate and cannot file II485. We need to allow everyone to be on the same page first and enjoy EAD freedom.
That should be our priority before any country limits or this thread action item
I now see why you got a red.
So basically you are also supporting this " If I am in INdia now and waiting for H1 visa, then start a campaign that everyone gets a H1 and then you worry about filing 485. You all have H1s and look at me".
Please see the good thats being discussed here and participate in it.

Guys & Gals,
Let no one take you for granted. Stand up now for what is important to you.
It is time to debunk all the negative myths about the high skilled legal immigrants.
Be part of this historical event which will go down as a memorable story in the
legal immigrant community. Be part of this amazing experience.
Yes, you could always watch the rally on TV but its time to book the air ticket,
take the bus or just take your car out for a long drive. Bring along your family,
spouse and friends.
Yes, together we can do this. See you in DC.

Anybody please comment. I have done some hard work here. Do you like the idea ? should we go for it ?
Hi bsbawa10,
You have put some good effort here and I think the posters make a point. But like you said, we need a substantial letter to accompany these.
We might need to take a bit of time to re-organize and pull this effort together. The Oct. VB news has been quite a damper - I came very close to not logging into IV today - I needed some time away from all this to collect my thoughts. It is likely that several people are doing the same.
IV core, in addition to the letters and calls to Congress persons to support HR5882, what else can we do? Several small efforts will likely not cut it for us. We need to pull our efforts together towards one single powerful protest. Any ideas from our advisors?

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank each one of you on the immigration voice core IV team for your dedication and perseverance and, congratulate all of us on this triumphant success with the USCIS decision in our favor. I very closely watched the immigration voice threads, especially, over the past week and don't think would have found a better blogspot for realtime updates and advice. Its been a tough time for most of us and that was sure evident with rising tempers on the forums and restlessness that was tangible. I think a celebration is in order. Cheers!!! ;)

If you really think about it bro, we would have been better off not knowing this instead of knowing it...
what difference would it have made, if he just kept this to himself rather than disclosing it? how is getting this information out a great service to the people whose priority dates are current? its like saying, that guys...dont start dancing yet...its going to rain on your parade!
take it easy bro...
why would anyone think about causing so much stress to hundreds of people? what would they get from that.
He has taken time and effort to share this info, atleast lets acknowledge that.
Whether its true or not is a different story.

This is one of the more reasonable proposals heard here. To give it more credibility, I think we should add an earnings threshold to it. Something like 500K to 1 million in cumulative W-2 earnings. No matter what your country of birth or your educational qualification is, If you contributed significantly to this country and you are law abiding then you deserve a little respect so that you can do more of the same.
Sir that will not go too far because it will be very easy for Desi body shoppers to generate W2s and pay stubs for that amount.
Make it simple. if someone working from last 10 years paying taxes and no crime history, never violated any law...Grant them Citizen ship...not GC.

Now on the other side, I am wondering why IV core hasn't yet posted their opposition to this idea.
Let me guess, you have been brain washed by some jerk who claims that he is GOD. So you see things around you through the prizm of that jerk, and you think that the purpose of creating a good idea is to shoot it down.
Allow me to share some common sense, which is always tough. Every idea has its time and place. Every good idea also has its time and place. Out of time and out of place idea is as good as hurting yourself. So while you sit in your rabbit hole listening to your GOD, wanting to work on the removal of per-country limits, just open your eyes and see that the world around you is much more beautiful if you don't see it with the prizm of some jerk. Hope you know what I am trying to say ....

Folks ,
Thousand if not millions of us are affected by DOS's reversal of the visa bulletin, and it would be quite a protest even if 20% of us joined together and raised our voice against this ill-fated system.
Obviously, a lot of us have been adversely affected emotionally and monetarily by this unprecedented knee-jerk reaction by DOS. A lot of our plans have gone completely astray and we again seem to be staring aimlessly at an uncertain future with very little hope in sight.
What's even worse is none of the elected representatives have bothered to question DOS's action except Congresswoman Lofgren . Immigration seems to have become a joke to our lawmakers(Wonder why Jay Leno hasn't picked on it yet) . We most certainly deserve to be treated much more gracefully than as use-and-throw commodities.
There was never a time when people had to wait for years togther without seeing any progress on their GC applications. Call it unfortunate , but our times have seen one set back after another for something which used to be a routine part for every legal (and highly skilled at that) immigrant's career in the United States. In fact, besides a good university system, it was this country's receptive immigration laws which brought us here in the first place and now immigration in US has become one of the most difficult hurdles to overcome.
Modern day immigrants have done so much to empower American economy and enrich the society as well in many subtle ways. A lot of us hold important and responsible positions in our respctive firms and having permanent residency would immensely help us do our jobs more efficiently. We have left a lot behind in search of a better life,we have put in every effort to adapt to the culture and lifestyle of this country and have even turned a blind eye to ocassional racist remarks or prejudices . Inspite of going through all this, little did we imagine that one day we would even have to question if going back to where came from is actually a better option merely owing to a rigid immigration system. Eventhough times have changed and many other countries seem to have a more successful immigrationn system than the US, our administration still hasn't woken up from it's slumber.
Sure, we all were very well aware of the KKK days or "Dot Buster" days of the 80s before coming here but then we surmised that these were threats from asinine sections of the society who were completely ignorant of how we were directly or indirectly beneficial to their own well being, but we always felt hopeful that the administration was in favor of immigration and would help us become a part of the American society. Only after coming here did we realize that the administrators were as uninformed about immigration as the perpetrators of KKK or "Dot Buster" to the extent that they sometimes did not know the difference between legal and illegal immigrants. The issue of immigration was so badly ignored that a reform was actually long due even before the additional delays of 9/11 came into effect. Well, now with the unprecedented reversal of the July bulletin by DOS , the system seems to have completely fallen apart.
As mentioned before, we certainly deserve to be treated more gracefully but for that we have to raise our voice against this disfunctional system and alert the seemingly ignorant administrators towards our plight. Politely but firmly! We have waited patiently, but how much longer should we endure this while we are treated as simpletons in a stick-and-a-carrot game??
I have added my 2 cents by opting to send flowers to the USCIS to be delivered on July 10th. I am not claiming this to be the best approach , but it certainly seems to be a novel approach. Atleast it doesn't offend anyone, cause extra hassles to the local administration in maintaining order during a protest and doesn't need you to take time off from your work. And no! I'm not endorsing this idea on behalf of the florists association of america(if at all there is something like that) . I'm in no way affiliated to the florists and stand to gain nothing if you ordered from them!
We would love to know if you have a better idea, but I think it's imperative that we all rasie our voice in unison against this system.

I believe as per the current rules CIS routinely assigns the PD of the substitute labor as the PD of the replacement worker.
What Rajiv Khanna says is very fair, but unfortunately CIS is not run by Khanna. In any case, can you please post the link to the aforementioned blog.
This can be best issue to sue USCIS. Good People will get benefit from this
