I filed AOS during July 07 fiasco. It has been more than 15 months since the first fingerprint but I have not yet received 2nd fingerprint notice. I noticed a SLUD in May/09 but no notice. Anybody else out there who filed in July but don't have second fingerprint notice yet?
I am like you, filed in Aug 2007, did first FP in Nov 2007 no second FP notice yet. I checked with my lawyer and several forums and response i got was that FP expires in 15 months and generally USCIS issues second FP notice when they are very close to approving your case. I called TSC and got a nice IO who told me that my FP did expire and he is issuing a request to send me FP notice and i should get one in 30 days. Not sure how it will go but i have heard that IO can approve your case even if FP expired and request FP after approval but before cards are sent.

When did they say they have repealed AC21? Is this true?
Regarding (6) above, it is not 10K, more like 5K.
Only a part of AC21 is repealed; ppl can still move one year after their 140 is approved and 485 is pending.

nope... I have my receipt notice that has June 11th on it, but the only system says July 3rd, which is the day they sent my notice :)
i guess you're right. in my case, receipt date and online case date for I-140/change of status were the same.
anyway, Nebraska process around 4500 application per day--that includes all kinds of form I-765, I-131, I-140, I-485, etc. assuming that 25% of those are are I-485 then they process 1000-1125 I-485/day. again, assuming 40,000 I-485 are still to be encoded then the average waiting time is 35-40 days. whew, i expect mine first week of september.

Does anyone know if Transit visa is needed while travelling with Air India via London.
Asking since you dont change planes in London... you continue on same flight.
As far as I know, you don't need any transit visa but contact the following:
a)British embassy.
b)Airlines.
c)Directly goto airport and check at the counter ( a week ahead).

I Have H1-B Approval but I dont have I94 with it.
Actually my H1-B valid from October 1st.
I went to my friends consultancy, those people said like you can work for any employer in OPT Status. So they want to run my paystubs up to september 1st 2008.Once I got the H1-B they want to run my paystubs from another company(througth Which i applied My h1-b).
Now I got the h1-b approval but i didnt get the new i-94 with it. And my previous employer ready to run paystubs with new h1-b company.
My OPT expiration date is on dec 29 2008.I am planning to go to consulate in the month of November 2008.
Please help me out what do i need to
1) Which Country i need to go?(Canada, INDIA or Mexico)
2) What documents i need to take?

Krishnam70, they require police certificates for any country where you lived in the last 10 (not 5!) years. Also, fingerprints must be sent to FBI to get "certified", and that can take 10-12 weeks nowadays.
NEVER bother the consulate with questions regarding your application status. Give it at least a year since they accept your documents. If you can't wait for so long, google "CAIPS notes" and use this process to get info about your application. However, if you have specific questions regarding your application/situation, the consulate will respond within 1-2 business days. Just make sure to include your file number (you'll be provided with it upon acceptance of your documents) at the top of each email message or response. I notified the consulate about my FBI fingerprints delay and asked some questions specific to my case. When I reviewed my CAIPS notes, I found out that they keep track of all communication, including email.
I'm almost done with my Canadian PR process and moving with my family to Calgary in October.
I am from india and a Canadian PR holder who has done successful landing. I did not provide a police certificate from India. I had lived in the US 4 years before I applied for Canadian PR .If you are applying from the US they do not require you to provide the PC certificate I think. May be you are correct about FBI verification, it used to take 3 weeks to get the fingerprints certified from FBI ( As i said the instructions are on the form so did not elaborate further on that). No phone correspondence with consulate is encouraged/possible during the wait time, all inquiries need to made using the fax/regular mail quoting your file number for reference and yoy will get response. CAIPS is a good way to see the progress but i guess u still need to wait 52 weeks either way to get started.

with employer B can I count that year before they filed for labor that I was under H-1b or I cannot count any experience gain before the labor was filed with employer B at all? I think that is the key question here.

Hi,
I have a serious problem and I am not sure what would be the solution. My wife came on H4 in 2001 and we applied for H1B and we got an approval which was valid until Oct 2006. But, in Mar 2006, due to some personal reasons we applied for COS from H1B to H4 and we got H4 approval which was valid until Aug 27, 2006. Before the expiry of H4 status in August 2006, we decided to apply for H1B and since her H1B was valid until Oct 2006, our attorney applied for H1B under I-539 and they didn't apply for H4 extension simultaneously. Meanwhile, while the H1B was in process, we applied for premium processing later which added few problems. We got an RFE on this case and our attorney answered it by sending appropriate docs but again we got a second RFE which is not answered yet.
Right now she is out of status and also, what will happen if her H1 is rejected and is it possible to apply for H4 right now, since it was expired in Aug 2006. If her H1 is rejected, can we apply for H4 even though her H4 was expired few months back or she has leave the country. Please help us out.

We were in similar situation sometime ago...Take all the documentation and leave country and come back. But this can be done only upon receival of H1 1797. I would suggest wait until 1-797 is obtained and decide based on the outcome.
BTW is she working now? If not, it is always better to keep mails/communication with the company that filed H1 to show that she was maintaing status and not getting paid..

I might recieve an RFE as I did not submit experience letters from my previous employers. I have a masters degree from US.
Just in case I get an RFE on I-140 and old lawyers/old company chose not to respond what are my options? I have letters with me now and can myself respond to RFE if I know what it is about.
if RFE goes unresponded is MTR the only option left??

Anyways, I have an infopass appointment on Tuesday & see how it goes.
It is quite confusing.. I think going to Canada/mexico is risky as I don't have any paystubs on H1, so going to my home country (india) might be the only option.
Does anyone know how long does it take for Change of Status application (i-539) to get approved? The processing date at Vermont Center shows it as "Feb 2008" right now.

This is most probably what happened in your case. You were first on H-4, then H-1 got approved in June'08. In the H-1 approval notice, did you get an I-94 attached at the bottom. If yes, then your status changed to H-1 automatically. Now, since you got back into the country in Sept'08 on H-4, it changed back to H-4.
Either you have to go to a consulate aboard and get H-1 stamp and enter using H-1 visa. Or apply for change of status within the country. However, whenever you leave the country, you will have to apply for H-1 visa stamp and use it later to enter.

it sounds like PD is a MUST for approval but for actual processing order , as in backlog queue, it seems purely by luck :(
