I convinced more people from my office to send a message on change.gov. Even US citizens who respect your work could send a message to the transition team saying that they are for the legal and highly skilled immigrants...
Getting recommendations from your bosses, managers and co-workers may also be helpful. Its very unusual for the USCIS/Immigration dept people to hear good things about the immigrants from US Citizens.

In my view H1B problem is directly related to Retrogression problem. Lets step backwards and analyze this.
Why so many GC were applied at the first place that caused retrogression. Because a large number of people came on H1B to US. All these people who came to US on H1b did not actually had any extraordinary skills. These people somehow got in touch with these Desi Consulting companies and came here without any skill and without any projects. These desi consulting companies applied there GC irrespective of the fact that these guys have a job or not. Some of the people I know have sat on bench for years, living with their relatives, unable to get any job. But they had their labour filed. These knid of people would not have made to US, if these fadudent companies were not there.
Also big companies, have a policy not to apply GC before one year of service. The point was that these companys will file GC only if they feel that the employee adds value to the company. But with these desi companys people have filed GC even before joining the companys.
In essence if the GC process was working without these Desi companies, I can bet that the number of GC applied would have been much lower than what have we currently have.
Substituted labor has further added to this problem.

Paid membership irrespective of the amount of payment will drive away the people. With all dues respect to IV, there are defintely other places where you can get good(if not better) information for free.
Strength of online communities is always the members...the higher the members the better.
Having said that, I kind of disagree with the punishing the wrong answers with a $5.00...most of the answers in these forums are people experiences and they are not legal professionals. People will not be able to share the experiences openly/freely. I think, it's the responsibility of the questioner to pick the right answer and donate for the value that he/she deems the question is worth.

Mr. Dobbs is known for his strong views against immigrants, including considering immigrants to be responsible for the spread of incurable diseases such as Drug-resistant Tuberculosis, Leprosy etc. From past experience on CNN, he is also highly likely to blame the current crisis in Auto Industry to the so-called "importation of cheap labor from third world countries".
He is known to make exaggerated statements such as "Four hundred thousand H1Bs granted in a year" where as facts show otherwise. As per government figures, federal government awarded 124,096 H-1B visas in the fiscal year ending October 2005, the most recent annual totals available. That includes renewed visas, which don't count against the annual cap. These dramatic exaggerations distort the reality and provide a falsified alarmist view of the situation; which works against the interests of Immigrants ,businesses and American economy.
It's not in the best interests of a respected bank like Franklin Bank to associate itself with a blatantly anti-immigrant show, that can harm the bank's image in the community. I request you to withdraw sponsorship of the show in the best interests of your bank and that of the immigrants in the community some of whom may be your workers, customers and business associates.

My priority date is Jan 04 EB2 and I have a very good job offer. I am in dilemma whether to change the job or just wait for the PD to become current. I have recently got my H1 approval for 3 more year on the basis for 140 approval.

Below is purely my speculation!
Assuming there are 400k applications pending (may be a bad assumption) > so about 100k with PD's Jun 2003 or less...
10k per year allotted so 10 years to reach June 2003 :confused:

Hey guys, thanks for the replies and the good advice, which helps a lot. It's true that prevailing wage for H1b and CG are different, so I don't think my employer is breaking the law...at least not yet. (Logiclife, what do you think? Wouldn't the attorney had told them that they are breaking the law?) It's just a hard reality check to realize that all the "we care about our employees" is just a smoke screen.

No one know what goes in the consulate office but what you can do is call the local vfs office and tell them what happend and ask them to see if the consulate has handed out ur PP to the couriour company. They might have some information for you.

There are both advantages and disadvantages, but if you haven't consumed full 6 years of H1B, going on EAD has certain advantages.

Wanted to let those interested know that my 140 EB2 got approved yesterday after RFE.
The RFE was on educational grounds. I have a 5 year integrated Msc in Physics and was -how a degree in Physics is equivalent to computer Science.
My attorney submitted a detailed analysis of all the course and a fresh educational evaluation on the 28th and it got approved on 30th.

IV has to priorotize before going to a lobbyist, with very very few contributions made, its very difficult to have everything bundled into a single request.
Its also unfair that L1 has to work for specific company but L1 spouces can work for any company any job, its so funny, when you think H1 has to work for specfic company and only for specfic job, but spouces can work for any compnay any job any salary without any labor department intervention
Immmigration awareness has increased a lot among US voters, when it comes to threat of their jobs being lost, and democratic senators are very much aware of it, hence CIR is no longer their priority.
I am not fighting but YES, my reason to join IV was to find justice to the H-4 not being able to work when L-1 spouses and Agjob spouses (I read this a year ago) could. Although no promises were made from IV, I was surpired today since nothing was ever said regarding no interest in the H-4 cause when many discussion were in place. Here people contribute for their own benefits, I was here for the H-4s, that is why I transcribed part of the conference calls too, so I was somehow a contributer to a cause that doesn't represnt my interests, but I know it represents the interests of the unmarried folks, or married to IT spouses folks.

140 was approved and filed 485, moved on to EAD right after first H1 expired (6yrs). Worked on EAD for 2.5 yrs and then had to move back to H1( did not even know we could :D ) due to some personal issues. So applied for extension and got approved for 3 yrs.
dont know if i got lucky or if there exists some condition here. I am not sure if it was treated as a new H1 or an extension but I guess the paperwork submitted quoted it as an extension based on 140 approval and a pending 485.

Hey GG - I did not take offense to your sentiments on B Com. What pissed people off, was your tone and disgust at the poor fellow and his qualifications, especially when you know little about his ability to carry out his job, or his background. In school, or on line -- he earned those degrees. Maybe he didn't have the financial resources to attend the best schools (I don�t know what is IGNOU). His employer has retained him, so perhaps he is good at what he does. He left his home, his family and traveled to some foreign shore to earn a living, not rob a bank. Show some respect. Anyway apologies for anything harsh I have said. Peace.
I assume you've likely never studied in India though. An bachelor's degree in engineering is not very expensive, if you have good grades.
